Working with the Hindi WordNet API in Python

Inspired from the English WordNet, the Hindi WordNet is a lexical database that consists of Hindi words and their relations. Since its release, it has been used in numerous NLP projects and research studies. This session aims to provide a stepping stone for participants interested in the area of Indian language text processing.

Through this session, the participants would -

1. be introduced to the Hindi WordNet API

2. retrieve the synsets of a (Hindi) word

3. execute jar files from Python

4. retrieve the roots of words in a given Hindi text and plot a histogram of the frequencies

Basics of Python and Java

Hindi WordNet (http://www.cfilt.iitb.ac.in/wordnet/webhwn/downloaderInfo.php), Hindi WordNet API (http://www.cfilt.iitb.ac.in/wordnet/webhwn/API_downloaderInfo.php), Java, Python 3, py4j, matplotlib, any Hindi font (e.g. Mangal)
